The Multiply Scheme
Skipton Tutors supports students and learners of all ages and abilities. One of the key initiatives we have been involved in over the last few years is the push to improve adult numeracy through the provision of functional skills maths level 2 support. A wider initiative is being launched by the government called the Multiply scheme which aims to support adult learners improving their maths skills.
Through the Multiply programme learners can get access to level 2 maths resources and support including tuition from experienced and DBS checked tutors. We are looking to support the programme by providing exceptional 1-2-1 functional skills maths tutors. The Multiply website offers support in the form of resources and tuition, but doesn’t enable learners to actually sit the level 2 maths qualification. In order to get the functional skills certificate learners must sit the exam through a registered exam center, which could be through your local college or alternatively you can sit the exam at home in your own time without the need to attend a full college course.
To qualify for support through the Multiply scheme, learners must meet a number of eligibility criteria, one of which is that you must not already have a GCSE grade C/Level 4 or a functional skills maths level 2 qualification. The maths resources as part of the scheme are being developed to be industry specific so that learners can select a sector or industry that they currently work in or are interested in and learn to improve their numeracy skills from that perspective. Having contexualised questions, practice exercises and video explanations helps to bring the maths alive and makes it more relatable, making it easier to learn.
