GCSE Resits
GCSE results day 2022 has meant some students are left considering GCSE resits in maths and English. Any student who hasn’t achieved a level four in GCSE maths and GCSE English language are advised to take a resit or consider the alternative, which is a functional skills level 2 qualification.
At Skipton Tutors we have exceptional pass rates so don’t tend to have GCSE resits with existing learners but we do get contacted by new students who have been disappointed with their results. In these circumstances we have to determine what the best route forward is. As Universities, employers and apprenticeships all accept functional skills maths and English as GCSE equivalents they are often the preferred choice. However, some courses require higher than a level 4 and in these instances a GCSE resit is the only option. We support students in multiple ways from tuition to revision as well as booking the final GCSE exams. You can book the GCSE maths and English resit via the following links.
If you only require a level 4 then the functional skills level 2 maths and English are likely to be the better options. The advantage of the level 2 exams over the GCSE retakes are as follows:
You can sit them all year round
Results take 2 weeks rather than 2 months
You can take the exams from home
There is much less content in the level 2 qualifications
Whether a GCSE resit is right for you or whether you should be considering the GCSE equivalent qualifications, is dependent on your personal circumstances.
