GCSE Equivalency Tests
At Skipton Tutors we support students and adult learners with a range of qualifications. Key qualifications for those entering teaching are the GCSE equivalency tests. These tests are primarily for those wanting to a PGCE, midwifery and nursing but they are used for other course entries at specific Universities as well. For international students or those who never obtained a GCSE grade C in maths, English or science, the GCSE equivalency tests tend to be the best option for getting into teacher training. The tests themselves are benchmarked against the major GCSE exam board specifications such as AQA and Edexcel but they are adapted so that they can be studied and taken in a shorter time period.
There are a number of GCSE equivalency test providers but only two that are accepted by all the major University providers. Our advice is to always stick with the two main providers, with A Star Equivalency being our top recommendation. Once you have booked your exam, you will receive all of the instructions needed for your exam day. You can take the test from home with online invigilation and results are returned within 2 weeks. The exams run 6 days a week so you will always be able to find an exam time that suits you. Following your results you will receive a certificate which you can present to your training provider. This will contain a unique code which they will use to verify the qualification.
In terms of tuition, Skipton Tutors helps those preparing for their equivalency tests but usually recommend covering the course content to identify the areas you need support with before progressing with tuition. If you do need the 1-2-1 support to help you progress with the content then we are more than happy to help. We have dedicated maths, English and science tutors who can support you with each of your equivalency tests. Contact us today for more information.
