New GCSE Maths 9-1 3D Pythagoras and Trigonometry
Skipton Tutors is a premium academic tutoring agency that provides Maths, English, Science and 11 plus tuition to students in the local Skipton area. As part of our series of blogs we are putting a spotlight on the GCSE Maths topics that students struggle with and suggesting the best places to find free GCSE Maths revision resources to help them overcome these difficulties. This week we are looking at 3D Trigonometry and Pythagoras questions. We feel that these questions are much more likely to appear in the new GCSE Maths 9-1 papers because they provide an easy way to contextualise the topic and make the questions more challenging as opposed to simply asking students to calculate a missing length or angle in a right-angled triangle. Sometimes these questions are difficult to visualise and require a lot of practise and concentration in order to be able to see through the context and understand what the question is actually asking.
Where students struggle with 3D Pythagoras and Trigonometry, often referred to as 3D SOH CAH TOA by students, plenty of practise questions is even more important than ever. If after plenty of practise students are still finding it difficult then there is always the option to book an expert GCSE Maths tutor which is where Skipton Tutors can really help.
